The February issue of the 1933 Fortune Magazine contained a story about a cigar band printer and had 20 photos of cigar bands. As I interpret the story, one of the cigar bands was supposedly from a Coca-Cola cigar. Enthusiasts saw the article and photo of the Coca-Cola band and noticed something was wrong. It had to be a fake, because the band said "a-Cola" on the front when it should have said Coca-Cola.
A Coca-Cola representative assured enthusiasts that genuine Coca-Cola bands did exist, but they always show the entire Coca-Cola trademark. On the left is the "real" Coca-Cola band with the full name Coca-Cola on the bottle itself. The one on the right has only a partial spelling of the name and it says "a-Cola" on its label.
