| This was the first year the the Iditarod Race Officially required each dog must be fitted with a microchips as part of the pre-race veterinary exam. These microchips were inserted into a hypodermic needle and then injected right behind the animal’s ear. With this technology veterinarians will have an easier time identifying and gathering information on the dogs during the race. | |||
