 This lapel pin commemorates the Iditarod in 1988. Wasilla, Alaska is a town in the Matanuska-Susitan Borough. After the ceremonial start of the Iditarod occurs in the city of Anchorage, the official restart of the famed race takes place in Wasilla which is located in the south central region of the state. The trail proceeds from Wasilla up the Rainy Pass of the Alaska Range into the sparsely populated interior, and then along the shore of the Bering Sea, finally reaching Nome in western Alaska.
